Coronation Afternoon Tea at The Castle Hotel

The highly anticipated coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is set to be an occasion of pageantry and a celebration of long-standing British traditions, and there is no better way to spend it than with a commemorative Coronation Afternoon Tea at The Castle Hotel Windsor. Carefully curated at the hotel’s inhouse restaurant Leaf by Head Chef Suraj Lockhande, guests can indulge in this quintessential English custom whilst being in the home of royalty.

Following on from their hugely successful Jubilee Afternoon Tea last year, The Castle Hotel’s Coronation Afternoon Tea will include a delicious variety of freshly made sandwiches, featuring a Royal Coronation chicken pinwheel wrap, and roasted beef and horseradish on multi-seeded bread. The sweet offerings include a selection of traditional freshly baked scones served with homemade jam, and an abundance of delectable treats such as fruit tartlets with lemon crème patisserie, and the Royal’s favourite Battenberg with matcha tea and orange. The Coronation Afternoon Tea will be served on a bespoke crown stand, designed as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II as well as a representation of the new King. Combined with a glass of fizz, guests can expect a truly regal afternoon in the most royal of surroundings. Guests also have the option to add a refreshing Garden Spritz or Botanical Gin & Tonic to their Coronation Afternoon Tea, with sparkling wine or rosemary-infused gin – a delicious representation of His Majesty’s love for gardening.

The hotel is proud to partner with Darvilles of Windsor, a long-established family business who have supplied and blended tea since 1860 and hold a Royal Warrant. Guests can choose from a variety of Darvilles of Windsor loose-leaf teas or tisanes and infusions with tempting flavours from across the world. Take the chance to try His Majesty’s favourite tea, Darjeeling served with milk and honey.

Whilst the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla is taking place in Westminster Abbey, The Castle Hotel Windsor is situated within a three-minute walk to the royal residence of Windsor Castle, where guests can witness the prestigious Changing of the Guards that passes right outside the front door. The hotel is imbued with its own royal history, after being established as one of Windsor’s finest boutique hotels dating back to 1528. This strong connection to the Royal Family is brought to life across the hotel’s 108-rooms, housing busts of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert that hark back to the tale of a birthday gift from the Queen to her consort.

The Castle Hotel Windsor’s Coronation Afternoon Tea starts from £35 per person, a glass of Champagne can be added for £11 per person. Please find further details on the Coronation Afternoon Tea here.
